FERRAN ADRIÀ / CULINARY ARTIST / BARCELONA

How can politics encourage creativity and innovation?
I think firstly, there should be the will to invest in innovation. Governments need to be aware that the future, both in economic terms and in terms of well-being, lies in creativity, something which they don’t often see because the return on this kind of investment is not immediate.

What do you like best about Barcelona?
I think that what I most appreciate about Barcelona is the mix between its inhabitants’ capacity for work and for improvisation. That is the culture of Barcelona: work and passion.

What should the world know about your work?
I think that my work is already more well-known than I could have ever dreamed of. What I would always like to pass on is that the most important thing is exactly this: work as well as knowledge always teach you to be better and to develop.
