FIDEL PEUGEOT / DESIGNER / VIENNA

How can politics encourage creativity and innovation?
This begins with upbringing and education. The focus should be placed equally on craftsmanship and science. To realise design or economic processes, you have to learn to implement things. Politicians also have to be aware that education of today defines the prosperity of tomorrow. Education must be available to all, because only educating those who can afford it does not mean that the best are educated. This can only create an artistic elite that raises the potential for conflict in the future.

What do you like best about Vienna?
I wanted to leave and I eventually stayed. That was perhaps a chance occurrence. If I could afford it, I would spend more time abroad in winter. It would be difficult to return to Switzerland because everything here is much bigger and broader, which I very much appreciate.

What should the world know about your work?
The world can rest in peace knowing that something very exciting is happening in Vienna. There are many in the art scene who want it, but this does not necessarily mean that they can actually do it. Only those who enjoy their work can be successful!
