BOOK RELEASE: A WAY BEYOND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES

An Analysis of the Austrian and International Creative Scene from a Global Perspective

ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA is very pleased to announce the release of the book A Way Beyond Creative Industries (Ed.: Robert Punkenhofer, Folio Publishers, Vienna).
The book is presented in the context of the World of Ideas Symposium that takes place on Thursday, 1 July 2010 at 7.00pm in Garage X on Vienna’s Petersplatz.

An increasing number of cities, regions and countries are developing economic strategies that focus on the creative industries. But what is it that makes the creative industries so vital? Is it just a temporary hype, or a trend that is here for the long run? A Way Beyond Creative Industries seeks answers to these questions. Designers, architects, musicians and fashion designers, but also academics and politicians from all five continents, including Richard Florida, Tom Peters, Alberto Alessi, Ben van Berkel, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Karim Rashid and Marios Schwab, analyse the Austrian and international creative industries scene from a global perspective.

With a collage of contributions coupled with an array of articles on the most important exhibitions and festivals in the creative industries, this publication offers an insight into creative businesses in Austria and around the globe, bringing together know-how and relevant networks of contacts.
